I am a professional actor, theatre arts instructor and a non-BCTF member of the Association of BC Drama Educators. My 40-year career has included teaching students age 3 to adult, developing curriculum, and helping connect families with arts education opportunities. Through my work as Performing Arts Education Coordinator at Evergreen Arts (Coquitlam 2014- 2018), I’ve seen how creative learning can build confidence, communication skills, and a sense of belonging. Strong public schools, engage families, and supportive, inclusive, secular learning environments are important for student success. I have also taught Mad Science; educational, interactive, science-based STEM programs. I am an advocate for arts education, the arts IN education and the importance of the A in STEAM.
For the past 5 years I have also been working as a Constituency Advisor in MLA Susie Chant’s community office. I have knowledge of provincial government operations and the powers of the Ministry of Education. I believe this job involves listening to concerns, knowing who or where to direct those concerns and using relationships to effect change.
